Itinerary
Day 1: Strathspey Steam Railway
Your holiday begins when you board our private coach in the morning and travel to the Scottish Highlands, making appropriate stops en-route. Our destination is Aviemore, one of Scotland's premier resorts, where we enjoy an included journey on the Strathspey Steam Railway to Broomhill. The sights and sounds of this beautiful 9 ½ mile journey will allow you to relive the romance of steam locomotion. Later in the day we travel to our hotel for your included evening meal.
Day 2: Whisky Trail
After your included breakfast we travel along part of the famous 'Whisky Trail' - a seventy mile long sign posted tour with several malt whisky distilleries which nestle in the peaceful hills and glens. Our tour includes entrance to a famous distillery where we will be taken on a guided tour and given a 'wee dram' to try. Later in the day we return to our hotel for your included evening meal.
Day 3: West Highland Line
After your included breakfast we travel to Fort William, which sits at the foot of Ben Nevis - Britain's highest mountain. From here you board the train for your included single journey on the West Highland Line. Sit back, relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery as we travel on what is known by many as the most scenic journey in Britain. We disembark in Mallaig where you have some free time to explore this active fishing port, before we return to our hotel for your included evening meal.
Day 4: Kyle Line
After your included breakfast we travel to Inverness where you board the train for our included journey on the Kyle Line, travelling from Inverness on the east coast of Scotland to Kyle of Lochalsh on the west. This journey on the single track line, as featured on Michael Palin's ''Great Train Journeys of the World'', will take us through miles of breathtaking scenery. On arrival in Kyle you have some free time to explore before we return to our hotel for your included evening meal.
Day 5: Return
After your included breakfast we check out of our hotel and set off on the return journey, arriving back in your local area in the mid to late evening.
Please note: we reserve the right to amend the order of excursions due to reasons beyond our control, such as timetabling alterations or maintenance work on the lines. For your information the Strathspey Railway is operated by a steam hauled engine, and the Kyle Line and the West Highland Line are both scheduled ScotRail services using ''Sprinter'' (diesel powered) engines.
