We have brought together two of Scotland’s most outstanding events which are a must for every visitor. The annual Edinburgh Military Tattoo has been performed to sell out audiences for over sixty years and brings together a glittering variety of dance, music and displays from around the world. The tradition of the Highland Games stretches back even further and is a wonderful celebration of Scottish culture and heritage. So book your place and get ready to see these two fantastic spectacles.

Itinerary

Day 1: Hotel

Your holiday begins when you board our private coach in the morning and travel to our hotel for your included evening meal.

Day 2: Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway - Edinburgh

After your included breakfast we travel to the Railway Station at Bo'ness for our included train journey along the southern shore of the Firth of Forth. We alight at Birkhill Station where you have some free time before we return to Bo’ness. Our next destination is Edinburgh, capital of Scotland, where we ascend the hill to the Castle for the performance of the Edinburgh Tattoo. After a memorable show we return to our hotel.

Day 3: Highland Games

After your included breakfast we travel to Perth to watch the Highland Games, a wonderful celebration of Scottish culture and heritage. Among the day’s events we will see throwing the hammer, tossing the caber, highland dancing and the hugely popular pipe band contest. Later in the day we return to our hotel for your included evening meal.

Day 4: Gretna Green

After your included breakfast we travel to Gretna Green, a haven for romantic lovers for more than 250 years. After some free time to explore this historic village we return to your local area, arriving back in the evening.
Please note: we reserve the right to amend the order of excursions for operational reasons. Due to operational reasons or events beyond our control the steam engine may be replaced by a diesel engine. Passengers with Disabilities Please note: due to the ancient and historic setting of the Esplanade (the Tattoo venue) of Edinburgh Castle, perched on an extinct volcano some 135 metres above sea level, it may present access difficulties for some. In particular the elderly, people with disabilities or of limited mobility, those with heart or respiratory problems and vertigo sufferers. Castlehill, the old cobbled approach to the Esplanade, is a short walk of some 80 metres, though on a steep incline and consequently, may prove difficult for some. In addition, there is on average, a further 60 metres followed by a dozen or so steps to the stands in the arena where generally the seating is quite steeply tiered. On a Saturday there are no facilities for transportation up to the Esplanade and coaches are not permitted to drop passengers off at the top of the hill. Wheelchair spaces are available at the Tattoo but must be pre-booked. Please note however that permanent wheelchair users must be accompanied by an able bodied attendant. Please consider the above carefully prior to booking. Should you have any specific difficulties please contact us on 0844 544 6670 prior to making a booking, so that we can try and accommodate your requests.
